A heating boiler care policy can assist a great deal by allaying your labour costs

Although you don’t have to worry about heating in the warmer months, everybody needs hot water for washing up, showers and so on, which is why you never want to be caught out with a broken boiler. Boilers are one of those things in life that we rarely think think of, until they stop working that is. And then you realise how important, not to mention expensive, it really is.

For those of you who are renting, of course you don’t have to worry about repairs and maintenance as the responsibility lies with your landlord and they probably will have landlords boiler cover. But if you own your home, a little money kept aside every month as an emergency fund will come in handy in such a gas boiler failure if you do not decide to invest in central heating system insurance.

You might consider investing in a new heating boiler model if your previous one is older than ten years, it would cut the cost of your fuel especially if the new one is a high-efficiency model and it would be less prone to breakdown. The type of gas boiler that you should buy would depend upon your existing boiler type, the size of your family and the amount of space in your home. For smaller homes with fewer people a combi central heating system tends to be the most common choice, especially if you want instant hot water at mains pressure. In a combi boiler water is drawn through the mains and heated immediately eliminating the need of storage tanks. Hot water is instant and on demand; but if someone runs a hot tap while you’re having a nice hot shower, be prepared to jump out quickly!.

A sealed gas boiler system has a storage tank, often in ventilated closet, and allows a big family to simultaneously use the hot tap and take showers without diluting hot water or reducing the water pressure. The system boiler needs not much space and it is quick and easy to install. But hot water can get exhausted fast and not replaced quickly if used frequently because of the storage tank feature of the boiler system.

If you live in an older home chances are that you have an open vent central heating system system, which takes up more space with two water tanks which are in the loft and a storage cylinder which is usually in the airing cupboard. Like the sealed system, this type of boiler can allow multiple outlets to draw hot water a the same time, but can also take a while to heat and doesn’t give the best water pressure.

Lastly, what’s known as a back central heating boiler gives simultaneous access to hot water from several outlets with sustained pressure; but it may need a large area for installation. The space inside a chimney breast is often used to accommodate a back boiler; but installing a new back heating boiler system to replace another type of gas boiler is not cost effective. But if your home had a back boiler installed when you moved in, it can save you a lot of money; if it needs replacing, it’s far cheaper to get a new back central heating system to replace and old one than it is to get a completely different system installed.

It is costly to repair a heating boiler which ever type your home has. A central heating system insurance policy can help a great deal by easing your repair costs in case your heating system fails at some point. Take out a boiler breakdown policy that covers annual central heating boiler inspections as well as call-outs and repairs and you could save yourself an extra amount per year.
