Decide what configuration of central heating gas boiler you need
Various types of Gas Central Heating Systems are available in the heating market. Almost all these systems have a central heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to heating radiators.
Across the majority of Northern Europe the climate is not warm enough to warrant air conditioning. Heating is more in demand particularly in the chilly wintertime, making a Central Heating System an absolute must-have for all modern houses and all those located in the United Kingdom.
With winter coming up round the corner heating should be at the front of your mind. A well heated house can help create a comfortable space for you to enjoy with your family. Your Central Heating System must be fault free as much as possible and efficient to cut bills. Additionally, your central heating system should also be safe, user-friendly and durable.
Sealed and vented or pumped systems are the two leading types of Gas Central Heating Systems available.
Pumped/vented systems are the ones that many homes have and they have the most components resulting in potentially higher maintenance costs. An expansion tank is present in a pumped heating system. The tank supplies your house with hot water and provides the heating radiators with heat. The expansion tank has adequate space to accommodate any water expansion that occurs due to heat. The expansion tank is placed at highest spot to help create water pressure. It not only heats the house, but also supplies hot water.
Older homes generally have pumped/vented Central Heating systems.
A sealed system is now being used in the new houses that are being built. As the name suggests, sealed system is a closed system; no tank is required in this system. There are benefits to have this closed type of system with pipework and tanks being unnecessary.
- Frozen attic pipes are no longer a problem.
- There won’t be any repair work on the tank or pipes which will be in the attic for a pumped/vented system.
- Reduces the risk of leaking.
- Reduced risk of air locks, corrosion and sludge as there isn’t a chance of air being drawn down into the system through open vents as the system is sealed.
- The mains water supply can flush the sealed system if needed.
A sealed Central Heating System is a system with the required controls and safety equipment all contained in one. A sealed Gas Central Heating System uses water that comes directly from the main water supply. It feeds directly from the main water supply.
Pressure variation can be regulated by a pressure vessel holding compressed gas; the hot water is pressurized by a diaphragm which also separates the water from the compressed gas. A safety valve will let water to escape or fill up depending on whether the pressure becomes too high or too low respectively.
As compared to other heating systems, Gas Central Heating systems are cheaper to run. They also provide you with complete control which is much more than other heating systems can say about themselves.
