Determine what form of central heating boiler you need

Various types of Gas Central Heating Systems are available in the market. A gas boiler, radiator and pipework are common components in many of these Central Heating Systems, they are simple in plumbing terms.

Due to the average temperature that is seen across the United Kingdom and northern Europe , people barely find the need for air conditioning. Heating is more in demand particularly in the chilly wintertime, making a Central Heating System an absolute must-have for all modern houses and all those located in the United Kingdom.

Central Heating is essential, particularly whens winter is heading our way. You can make your home more comfortable, pleasing and relaxing by heating it with Central Heating. This security in winter is possible only if your Central Heating System is foolproof, well maintained and operating efficiently. It should be durable, easy to use and completely safe.

Sealed and vented or pumped systems are the two major types of Central Heating Systems available.

Pumped or vented Gas Central Heating systems are most popularly used. The basic differentiating components of such a system are a feed and expansion tank. The hot water storage tank provides your home with warm water and brings heat to the radiators. The tank makes way for any water expansion that is caused by the heating process. You will most likely find the expansion tank kept in the highest part of the house. The hot water tank has two main functions; to heat the house and and provide hot water for washing.

A pumped/vented Gas Central Heating System is what most homes probably have, especially those built many years earlier.

The sealed Gas Central Heating system is one that more and more people are opting for these days. No water tanks are needed for a Sealed system as it is a completely closed setup saving space. This unvented system eliminates water tanks and loft plumbing, thus giving a number of advantages.

- The problem of freezing pipes is eliminated.

- attic space is freed up and pipe maintenance is reduced.

- Reduces the risk of leaking.

- The sealing off of the system eliminates dirt buildup, air locking and corrosion that often troubles open vented systems.

- It is possible to flush out the system if required by using the mains water supply.

A sealed Gas Central Heating System is a packaged unit with all the necessary controls and safety devices. The water for the system is provided directly from the main water pipe of the house. The mains water goes direct to the sealed system.

The system also has a pressure vessel which contains compressed gas, it controls the variations in pressure and a diaphragm is used to separate it from the sealed system. A safety valve will let water to escape or fill up depending on whether the pressure becomes too high or too low respectively.

As compared to other heating systems, Gas Central Heating systems are cheaper to run. And they provide you with much more control and choice when it comes to your heating compared to any other systems.
